Peridot

Peridot is a fine stone of green-yellow color used in jewelry, also called olivine because of its color which reminds that of olive oil.

Peridot has been mined for more than 3500 years on a small island in the Red Sea called Zaberget, but these deposits are now almost completely exhausted.

Myanmar (formerly Burma) in the Mogok region produces beautiful stones but in 1994 a new deposit was discovered in Pakistan in the Nanga Parbat region of Kashmir. This deposit produces stones of very good quality.

Other deposits are found in Arizona in the United States, in China, in Brazil in Minas Gerais ...
Peridot is a soft stone and therefore should be handled with care.
Peridot is the birthstone of the month of August.
