In 1900, the Universal Exhibition was held for the fifth time in Paris, on the Champ-de-Mars, the esplanade of the Invalides and the Trocadero, where the different pavilions were presented to the visitors. For the occasion, Switzerland will create a Swiss village, located between the avenue de Suffren and the avenue de la Motte Picquet, representing all the cultural characteristics of its country: real chalets, fake mountains, rocks, lakes, waterfalls, without forgetting its knowledge and crafts: jewelry, watchmaking, embroidery, weaving but also chocolate and cheese.
Everything is made to impress the visitors thanks to the talent of the architects Charles Henneberg and Jules Allemand!
Behind this village is a big wheel of 100 meters high, built in order to compete with the Eiffel Tower

The Ferris wheel will last thanks to its immense popular success and the Swiss Village will be dismantled at the end of the World Fair. In 1920, it will be definitively dismantled.
In 1928, the "Swiss Village", which had become a vast wasteland but whose name had remained, began to take shape as we know it today. Scrap dealers and ragpickers settled there.
The place grew and the products sold diversified. It is after the war that the Swiss Village starts to welcome antique dealers.
In 1966, the Swiss Village was remodeled to be more modern, with buildings of seaside architecture. After this facelift, the Swiss Village was even more successful and gained notoriety! All the capital goes to the place, as well the fans of antiques as the curious ones coming to meet some celebrities.
The Swiss Village has evolved since its creation, everything is reinvented inside without ever losing the spirit of the place.
In 2022, the Swiss Village became "Village Suisse Paris", the only place that concentrates a large number of the only place that concentrates the activity of antique dealers and artists, but also jewelers and designers. Indeed, you can discover 150 stores offering, like Pierres de Julie, vintage, antique and signed jewelry.
The site has also been completely redone to facilitate exchanges with customers.
