Malachite

Malachite is a green colored copper carbonate.

Relatively fragile, it is easily scratched and resists acids very little.

Translucent to opaque, it can be recognized by its zonation of colors ranging from light green to black.

Malachite is found all over the world, near copper veins and mines.

The Brazilian, Colombian, Australian, Namibian and Russian deposits are the most important and produce very beautiful stones.
