Rhodochrosite is an ornamental stone with a pink "layette" colour and white "fang" zonations, which inspired the name of the stone.

Be careful not to confuse it with rhodonite, which belongs to the silicate group and is visually distinguished by its black zonations.

Rhodochrosite is generally used as an ornamental stone, but it can also be found as a gem, which is very rare. It is then pink-red in colour and fairly expensive.
