Boucheron

The First Vendôme Jeweler

Image module

Founded by Frédéric Boucheron in 1858, Boucheron is one of the pillars of French fine jewelry.
The house was first specialized in watches. Frédéric Boucheron created the first watch to wear on the wrist. He is also at the origin of the self-winding movement GP 4000, in collaboration with Girard-Perragaux.
In 1867, the house won major prizes at the Universal Exhibitions in Paris for the Feuillage necklace, commissioned by Marie-Louise McKay, an American heiress.

First installed at the Palais Royal, he was the first jeweler to open a Place Vendôme shop in 1893, at number 26, in the residence of the Countess of Castiglione.
After more awards at the various world exhibitions and the growing success of the brand, Boucheron opened, at the beginning of the twentieth century, several shops around the world, including Moscow, St Petersburg, London, or New York.
The son, Louis Boucheron takes over the family business and helped other jewelers to embark, like Pierre Sterlé who worked in the workshops of the house.
In 2000, the company was bought by Kering Group (Pinault).
Today the company has 55 stores around the world. In 2011, Claire Choisne becomes the artistic director.

MYTHICAL PIECES

The Point d’Interrogation Necklace, created in 1879 won a Grand Prix at the Universal Exhibition in Paris. It is still found today, the general shape remains the same but the reasons vary.

The Cape de Lumière is a piece made entirely of yellow gold and set with an 81 carat citrine. This piece is on the border between jewelry and clothing. It is a tribute to the parents of Frédéric Boucheron who were clothiers.

SUCCESSFUL JEWELERY COLLECTIONS

The “Quatre” Ring is one of the greatest success of the Boucheron house. It is a superposition of four rushes in yellow, white, and pink gold. The etched patterns may vary as well as the number of diamond-paved rushes.
